A good friend just turned me on to some great music from Australian band, Tame Impala. Their newest album called Innerspeaker is amazing and you would do well to check it out. As I’m listening to it and trying to put it into words, theirs something slightly Dungen-esq about it but a lot softer, psychedelic, more California and awesome. Think: “psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music.”

From their site, “Tame Impala are a rainbow sandstorm of stoned riffage, mindbending melody and blissed out adventurism from the most isolated city in the world who echo the lighter side of Cream, Blue Cheer and Kyuss. The band are set to release their debut album ‘InnerSpeaker’ this coming May. ‘InnerSpeaker’ is Tame Impala’s chance to paint a far more extensive picture, and sure enough it redrafts the entire Tame Impala world as we knew it into an explosive, cosmic wonderland of ecstatic harmony and perfectly accessible journeys into inner space.
