Booka Shade – Teenage Spaceman

booka_shade

This new single from Frankfurt-based duo Booka Shade recently graced my inbox with its presence, and I couldn’t help but pass it along. Teenage Spaceman (Booka in Space mix) is an extended tech house mix that has convinced me I need to acquaint myself with Booka Shade’s 2010 album “More!” These guys have been making music for quite a while,...

Bratislav Milenkovic

Bratislav_Milenkovic_00

Bratislav Milenkovic is a Serbian designer and typographer that has some pretty impressive type work. I came across his greyscale type experiments (shown here) on The Behance Network and got really excited. I believe he’s done some work for Non-Format but could be wrong. If not he’s taken some great cues from their style book.

Phantogram

I’ve been enjoying me some Phantogram lately. A twosome made up of Sarah Barthel and Joshua Carter from Saratoga Springs, NY. Their music is “a mix of organic and electronic sounds, with swirling guitar, spaced-out synths, and chopped up samples and rhythms.” Taste the lighting. These guys are signed to Ghostly International a label who hasn’t missed since 1999.

TMA-1 Headphones

tm1_headphones_00

Headphone junkies take note. This is the first time on this zine we’ve shilled for a product but if nothing else I’m impressed by the design of the TMA-1 Headphones. A company called Aiaiai unveiled these simple, subtle, utilitarian, NOT overly branded and pretty styley headphones. I can’t personally vouch for the sound quality but it seems many others can....

Corrado Grilli

Stumbled on the work of Corrado Grilli, an Italian designer and illustrator. He’s got some skill with type and has done some interesting album artwork that makes good use of it. I think this guy is pretty young and it will be interesting to watch his work develop.

We Buy Your Kids

webuyyourkids_00

It’s been a while since I’ve seen such a large quantity of mind-binding work all in place. This morning I found the site of Sidney, Australia based duo Sonny Day & Biddy Maroney otherwise known as We Buy Your Kids. Feast thine eyes on some of the most amazing work I’ve seen in a very long time.

Ginger Monkey

If you have’nt yet seen Tom Lane‘s work you need to. He graduated from the University of the West England and is currently living in Bristol. He’s worked with some pretty impressive people and I’m sure has a long career ahead of him. Great work.

The Donkeys in San Francisco

San Diego based band, The Donkey’s are playing at The RickShaw Stop in San Francisco tonight with T.V. Mike and the Scarecrowes and The Horns of Happiness. If you’re in town check it out and we’ll see you there. Their last album was great and I’m looking forward to seeing them live.

Matthew Dear – Black City

matthew_dear_blackcity

Holy crap, Matthew Dear has a new album out called, “Black City.” From what I hear it sounds pretty poppy. From the Baltimore City Paper: “Black City is not only dark, but is that same sort of sexually charged, barely lit room dark where people fuck strangers, forget friends, and smell like the right kind of danger.” Looking forward to...

Allan Peters

allan_peters_00

Allan Peters‘ work has been floating around the inter-web for some time and we thought it a good idea to talk about him here on Made Legend. Allan’s got some talent and his concepts make us happy. We especially loved his “Poster on a Stick” series which reminded us of all-too-many days spent at unnamed state fairs in the Mid-West....
